Today’s Bible Reading: Numbers 7-8

Today’s Devotional: Numbers 7:1-9
The leaders saw the burden of the Levites and desired to help lighten their load. This allowed the Levites to be well rested when setting up the Tabernacle when traveling and allowed day to day logistics to go more smoothly.
There was no comity meeting, pledge drive, or vote. The leaders were stirred within their hearts for their Levite brothers who were serving. They gave from a cheerful, not a begrudging, heart so that the Levites could serve before the Lord more whole heartedly. With fewer distractions and burdens weighing them down, they could focus more on worship. The heart of the worshiper was also why the offering was accepted, “they brought their offering before the Lord” there were no conditions to the offering and strings attached but trusted that the Lord would speaks on how they were to be used and divided up.
The offering was six covered carts and twelve oxen; carts were a luxury and these were covered. The worshiper didn’t give from their left overs, disassembled scrap, or what no one else wanted or needed; they gave from their best, an offering unto the Lord for the support of the ministry of the Lord.
As Paul encouraged the Romans in Romans 12:4-8; the elders gave from a heart which understood that we are all apart of the same body, and we should serve one another as we all serve Christ.
