Today’s Bible Reading: Leviticus 26-27

Today’s Devotional: Leviticus 26:1-13
God begins and ends His promise for blessing the children of Israel with a reminder of what He has done for them and why He is Good. In verses 1-2 God reminds the children of Israel that He has rescued them from the false gods and empty promises of this worlds pleasures; in verse 13 God reminds the children of Israel that He has broken the bonds of slavery to that same system. God had no intention to send or place them back under slavery again. In verse 12 God tells the children of Israel why He did all that He had done for them, it was because He loves them and desires to have a relationship with them. God says that He will walk amongst them and be their God, but there is a condition to Him walking amongst them and them enjoying the benefits of freedom from bondage and freedom from false systems and empty promises, they also have to walk with Him.
In Psalm 1, the Psalmist writes that the individual who delights in the law and ways of the Lord is blessed, and is rooted like a tree planted along side a stream, they bring forth the proper fruit for each season which they go through. Their not tossed and turned by confusion in the different seasons of their life, but instead they are healthy and nourished no matter the situation and circumstances out in the world.
Jesus in Matthew 5 tells us of what a blessed individual looks like in the kingdom of heaven, Jesus gives us the Kingdom’s Manifesto. The blessed individual is the one who will humble themselves underneath the Lord’s wisdom and guidance in their life.
Psalm 32 the Psalmist says that all blessing begins with the forgiveness of each of our sins, because Jesus has rescued us from the false hope and empty satisfaction of this world and the road of death and destruction that it leads the individual on. A life path that is full of only confusion darkness, one which places bonds of slavery to it on the individual. But God doesn’t desire that for any of us. God desire a relationship with Him that experiences God’s love through Jesus Christ. A life where He just blesses because He delights in us and loves us.
I would like to encourage you to read Psalm 34 and mediate on what the Psalmist is saying of the happiness the one who trusts in the Lord will have. And if you desire that happiness, it’s there for you, but it’s only through the person and sacrifice of Jesus Christ. I encourage you to accept the Grace He offers you and receive true Peace in the midst of all of your life and situations which only comes from Him. If you have already received His Grace and His Peace, but desire more of His peace in your life then ask Him for it and He’ll give you the Peace to be planted in any season of your life and you’ll bring forth the proper fruit for each season that you go through, He’ll see you through it and continue to let Him refresh you by the washing of His Word in your life, so that you’ll remain properly rooted and with leaves no matter the season.
