Today’s Bible Reading: Exodus 1-4

Today’s Devotional: Exodus 1:6-14
Exodus 1:6-7 we see that God’s promises have outlived now 3 generations from when God gave his promise first to Abraham.
In the world, we see that the vast majority of promises of the world’s value system and promises for finding fulfillment and generational wealth don’t last even a generation and three generations at that. The worlds promises and value systems are short lived and end just as quickly as they are gained when anything is gained apart from the will and direction of God’s eternal plan and direction.
Exodus 1:8-14 many years have passed now since the promises and favor from the Lord were first given and received. Egypt in scripture is a picture of the world and a life surrendered to short lived promises and values.
Paul in, Galatians 5:16, tells the Christian that by walking in the Spirit we will not fulfill the desires of the flesh and the world. Further in Galatians 5:17, Paul writes that the flesh and the Spirit are at war with one another, because they are contrary to one another. And this warfare, counterintuitive if we picture war of opposing factions and countries within the world today, is beneficial because Paul writes that because they are opposite there is a distinct difference between the two which Paul continues with in Galatians 5:18-25. Paul then in Galatians 5:26 lists three characteristics of the flesh waring against the Spirit. Being conceited, provoking, and envying and Pharaoh in Exodus 1:8-14 commits all three at minimum.
James writes in James 1:1-18 about the trials that we go through, and the great plan that God desires and has planned from eternity, and that those trials strengthen the believer. God allows trials, difficulty, brokenness not because He caused it. We actually caused all of these things and much more, but God allows them so that we may find our strength in Him and not in what we have built or in the world which is such a short ride of pleasure.
Luxury leads to weakness, while suffering leads to strengthening, because who do we open the door to when we are weak? God. Who do we open the door to when we are rich? Our Self. I don’t know about you but I have chased my strength and glory all over the world and the only thing I found was emptiness and dissatisfaction for the world that it never gave what it promised. But God, but God completely opposite and his promises are for eternity. The number one promise of God is that He loves you and has died for you, and the second promise is that if you will open the door to Him then He will strengthen your inner-man, and that strength is to be measured by the power in which the Father raised Jesus Christ from the dead. That same power He desires to now work in, through, and out of your life. So then why are we still settling for so weak of a power working in our lives. Count it all joy the trials and tribulations, because it is His strength He is work out in your life.
