Today’s Bible Reading: Exodus 24-27

Today’s Devotional: Exodus 24:1-8

Preparation for true worship

Exodus 24:1-2 God speaks to Moses to bring Aaron, his sons, and 70 elders to a closer than before place for worship.

Exodus 24:3 This then followed with Moses telling people all the words of God.

Exodus 24:4a The people responded with a pledge of obedience and Moses wrote all of the words of the Lord.

Exodus 24:4b-6 Moses built an altar then had burnt offerings and peace offerings sacrificed on it.

Exodus 24:7-8 Moses reads from God’s Word. The people accepted the Word’s of God to be a light and truth for their lives. The people had tasted and seen the goodness and love of God in Egypt, at the Red Sea, and His presence with them as they journeyed. And the people were sealed with the blood of the covenant relationship.

Our true worship of the Lord comes from who God has revealed Himself and His ways through His Word, understanding the love and favor the Lord shows toward us, and having the seal of God’s covenant upon our hearts. How thankful we are that we will never be separated from His Word, His working in our lives, and His love. Through God’s Word and the Holy Spirit having the freedom to work in our lives, it’s His love which He produces in our life. Love for Him and love for others.

The more of God’s love we allow in our lives, the more love which overflows towards others. And this is the heart that is prepared for worship. A love for God’s Word, a Love for God, and a love for the unity of the Body of Christ, all of those who have been made clean by the blood of the New Covenant that is in and through the blood of Jesus Christ that was poured at Calvary.
