Today’s Bible Reading: Exodus 35-37

Today’s Devotional: Exodus 35:1-29
Exodus 35 Moses communicates the heart of the Lord to the people and their instruction for proper worship of Him, how the worship is to be prepared for. That proper articles are built and equipped a certain way to be before Him and in His presence.
Exodus 35:1-3 we see the first article and how it’s to be prepared. It’s from resting with and in the Lord. The worshipper isn’t prepared to worship from their work or from the world. If anything it distracts the worshipper from the true heart of worship, and from the desire of God’s work.
Exodus 35:4-9 True worship then flows from the articles of their offering being sanctified, no longer being common but set aside for a specific and Holy use, and the desire to worship gone to the heart.
Exodus 35:10-29 The givers brought all they had and it was the outward sign of the inward grace of devotion to the will of God. The people brought their jewelry and the ends of articles which were meant for signs of beauty. In the presence of their sin and in repentance the children of Israel had stripped the ends of their clothing, jewelry, etc. which were their signs of rejoicing and with a willing heart they sanctified these to the Lord. From here their primary cause of rejoicing was in the presence of the Lord who was in their midst, and to be in the center of the camp. The visual presence of their rejoicing would be in the Tabernacle which they brought the sign of their rejoicing for it’s construction.
Through resting in and with the Lord we see that a proper heart of worship, sanctification, offering, and service is given and built up in the life of an individual. If we aren’t intentional about and spending much time with the Lord how can the individual expect their heart is aligned properly with the Lord in worship, sanctification, offering, and service? And not in our jobs, our possessions, our cars, our hobbies, celebrities, sports, or other individuals for popularity and appearance.
Spend time with the Lord and in His Word and then our worship and offering will be from a heart aligned with the character, ways, and attributes of the Lord.
