Today’s Bible Reading: Leviticus 5-7

Today’s Devotional: Leviticus 5:1-13

The right of access to forgiveness and relationship with the Lord was not granted based upon the value or size of the sin offering. But was dependent on the means of the worshipper, which should reflect their appreciation that they can have access and forgiveness, that God would receive them after the worshippers sin had been found out or become aware to them.

If the worshippers means allowed them to bring a lamb or goat and yet they brought 2 turtle doves, pigeons, or fine flower it would reflect the individual has no comprehension of their sin or of God’s Grace. The main idea here is that all are guilty, and that oftentimes we sin and aren’t aware of it in the moment, and that God’s Grace is supreme. Even our forgetfulness along with our sins He shows His Grace.

How much does the individual Christian understand of the Grace we have been shown when we have sinned? When our sin has became know how do we respond? Is our response in vowing to never sin again or is our response to worship?

Because we can never not sin again, as long as we are here in an imperfect world in our imperfect bodies we can never not sin, but we can worship. And when we worship God in light of our understanding of what our sin has done and what God’s Grace really is, then the worshippers worship reflects how much of themselves they commit to worship. The worshipper holds nothing back from giving to the Lord. Is it a quick passing of thank-you to the Lord, 30 seconds of worship, perhaps a few hours, or is it a continual heart of worship and praise to the Lord and laying all that the Lord asks of us and lay it on the altar for Him to do with in His will. The degree of worship to the amount of Faith, or the amount of trust the Lord has shown that we can place in Him. Does our offering to the Lord of ourselves reflect the faithfulness He has shown to us and the amount of trust we can place in Him?

How much do you and I understand of the cost of our sin and of His Grace?

How much of our day to day lives do we give to the Lord in worship and obedience?

Our response to sin can be a snare if we are not careful, if we vow to not sin or to not do it again, then it is only our own strength and our flesh which we are telling the Lord will keep us from sinning. But if our sin causes us to worship and give all that we are to the Lord, the Christian realizes the weight of their sin and God’s Grace, that it’s their strength that got them to sin in the first place and not God’s Grace. If our worship to the Lord reflects the measure of trust He has shown that we can place in Him and who He is then we will not sin. True worship focuses on Him, not on our personal goals with what it is He has asked us to sacrifice or offer up to Him, cheating the Lord out of more of ourselves so that we can get ahead.

Have you set yourself apart for God to the degree and how He has asked you to? Do you trust Him?
