Today’s Bible Reading: Numbers 9-11

Today’s Devotional: Numbers 9

Everything had been provided for the children of Israel’s march to the promised land at this point. Before the detail of the movement of how the children of Israel were to wait for the:

Numbers 9:18 – Command of the Lord for them to Journey and for them to camp.

The children of Israel were only ever to step or stop in the obedience to the Lord through the manifestation of the cloud. The supernatural manifestation, indicating the presence and guiding of the Lord. It lifted all responsibility from them for the guess work, only simple obedience was expected; no drastic and elaborate rituals, like is seen later of the prophets of Ba’al on Mt Carmel, or long debated board meetings of the elders of the tribes then compromises from all in order to travel or stop. No it’s just simple obedience that God wants, Paul wrote to the Romans in Rom 6:16 we always give obedience to something, and it’s our choice who we will obey.

This act of obedience was precursored by the commemorating and remembrance of the Passover. God’s Grace towards mankind and Peace with mankind downed and fitted like shoes ready to carry and hold the children of Israel firm in His promises so that they are not over taken by their enemies, deceived, or grow tired of a life moving forward towards their promised Hope.

Paul in Ephesians 6:15 told the Christians to put on the preparation of the Gospel of Peace. The Romans would place spikes in the bottom of their boots to keep them from being moved and overtake by their enemies. To also for the Christian, having the remembrance of the Gospel of Peace which holds us firm to our forward movement with the Lord and our simple obedience. Our guidance is as sure for us as it was for the Children of Israel, and it’s given for us to know and to understand.

Ephesians 1:17; Philippians 1:9; Colossians 1:9-10

By a life of maintained fellowship with the Father through the Son and by the Holy Spirit, there is no time which we can not discover what is the will of God for us.
