Today’s Bible Reading: Deuteronomy 16-19

Today’s Devotional: Deuteronomy 16:1-17

Observe and Keep

Remember as we looked at in Deuteronomy 5, God is reminding the children of Israel the importance of remembering, and God’s encouragement to remember an keep is by reminding them. The Lord knows that as humans we are bound to forget, so He speaks to us from and reminds us from Hs Word.

Deuteronomy 16 1-17 the Lord is reminding the children of Israel that all men, with no excuses can be given, shall appear before Him to remember something import in their lives.

Deu 16:1-8 The Lord desires they remember the Passover, remember the cost by which He ransomed them from slavery in Egypt. They were to remember their value and what they were ransomed to; a life set apart from the world and which God desired an incorruptible life for them. And his has been fulfilled by Christ paying our eternal ransom by His perfect life given upon the cross, 1 Corinthians 5:7, who saw no corruption; Acts 2:27, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4.

Deu 16:9-12 The Feast of Weeks, pointing to Pentecost and the coming upon of the Holy Spirit. Before Pentecost the disciples and any Christians would have had the Holy Spirit living in them but there was a needed power of the Holy Spirit to come upon the Christian in order to successfully follow and serve the Lord. To say no to sin, and equips us to do His will, to better serve Him, power to walk with Him, and for the power to share the good news of His Grace for all; the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is a crucial need in the life of every Christian.

Deu 16:13-17 The Feast of Tabernacles, begins and ends in rest. Was all about rest and refreshment, remembering what God had done and that where we live is our temporary dwelling place, but we look forward to Christ’s millennium reign, Zec 14:16-19, and then our eternal resting place with Him because of what He has done as our Passover Lamb.
