Approaching with a heart of humility

We shouldn’t desire to be deceitful in our motives or our request. What we should do however is approach the Lord with a heart of humility, that there is no position or gain of our own which allows us to receive any favor but that it’s by the very nature of who God is which we approach Him and make our hearts known to Him. It’s with the knowledge of God’s Grace and His favor upon the humble, which is how we approach Him.

There isn’t anything that we can do to gain God’s favor and to restore ourselves to God on our own, but it’s only by God’s desire and heart that we have any hope for restoration. Through our humility we lay ourselves before the Lord and His character.

For a woman to go before King David and make a request in those days was a very humbling approach to making a request known. Joab did not use his status or position for seeking restoration, but instead used the most humbling approach that was possible in that day. And Joab chose a wise woman, just because we are humble and go before our King of Kings Jesus Christ we do not leave wisdom at the door and continue in ignorance. We see all throughout Scripture that the Lord desires us to grow in our knowledge and understanding of Him. In his letter to the Colossians Paul is writing to the Believers in Coloasse about the Identity of Jesus Christ and the only way any of us will ever understand who we are is by growing in the knowledge and understanding of Jesus and who He is.
