Today’s Bible Reading: 2 Kings 12-14

Today’s Devotional: 2 Kings 12:1-13

Verses 1-3:     Godly Instruction

Verses 4-5:     Godly Restoration

Verses 6-13:   Zealous Preparation

When there is Godly (which is Biblical) instruction in the life of an individual as Paul wrote to the Believers in Philippi, Philippians 3:14-16; the same manner which Paul encouraged those in Philippi, by his life as an example for them to walk out and pressing towards the eternal purpose of the Lord both eternally and general for everyone and specific which the Lord has through the life of others in the Temple, and specifically the priest Jehoiada, for the life of young Jehoash.

As Jehoash grew and matured, 2 Kings 11 & 2 Chronicles 22:10-12, this Godly example and instruction in Jehoash’s life then along with the Spirit of God empowering Jehoash to walk out God’s calling in his life to the degree which Jehoash had matured in an understanding of who God is to this point in his life. Jehoash was not meant to stay still in his knowledge and understanding of who God is, but the Lord desires us to continually grow in and Him to then strengthen us all the days of our lives as Paul wrote to the Colossians in 1:10-11. This leads to a Godly and Biblical restoration of the Lord in and individual’s life which is the Lord’s desire, a restoring of the Lord walking and talking with us throughout the day and not our lives being marked and identified with the things and ways of this world which are temporal and not eternal which easily become the driving and motivating factors of our lives.

We walk out this motivating and zealous walk then before others and seek to be an example to others of the great and amazing change that the Lord desires to do in each of our lives and that He does by and through His power and of not strength of our own, but it’s only by us sitting with Him in His Word, and allowing Him to do His work in our lives.
