Today’s Bible Reading: 2 Kings 24-25

Today’s Devotional: 2 Kings 24:1-7

The beginning of Babylon’s influence over Judah. Babylon is a great picture and example for us of the consequences of our pride and how the pride of man has lasting consequences on others. Our pride leads us to rebel against anything that does not have us as the center of attention and the MVP of other’s lives.

Pride is an attitude that is completely opposite and foreign to God’s Kingdom, His eternal desire for the Church, and the individual Believer; these are eternal and as Christians we have been made new in His image, where there is no pride and in order for what is eternal to last there comes often times later consequences which may seem delayed but in fact the Lord is only giving time, amongst any other purpose of His, for an opportunity of self-humbling that may be allowed.

The inevitable outcome of pride is a constant flow of confusion and being robbed of God’s true intention and desire for the Believer’s Spirit Filled Life. Pride puffs us up to where we can not receive from others, and many times see anyone else, and that we have something special which no one else can obtain without following after the exact same steps that we completed through our own personal strength.

Eventually Egypt and the world no longer have to become the distraction which leads us away from God as our main priority of energy, focus, growth, and knowledge because our own pride has taken the stage and done that.
