Today’s Bible Reading: 1 Chronicles 8-10

Today’s Devotional: 1 Chronicles 8
Drop in importance of the tribe of Benjamin and the family of Saul we see marked out in 1 Chronicles 8. The Lord lays out for those returning to Jerusalem and example for them on going forward and being able to come back and continue to dwell in the land, and specifically in Jerusalem because this is where those returning first returned to as well as the second largest representing tribe of those returning was from Benjamin.
We see the important encouragement from the Lord that He’s not done with the tribe of Benjamin, and also the importance of staying effective and usable by the Lord. For this one must not be in opposition to what the Lord is doing and the things of the Lord. If we chose to be in opposition, doing things which are opposite to the Lord’s character and direction we will find in time ourselves drop in effective service for the Lord, but the Lord does not desire to be done with using or less effective in working through any of our lives. Instead the Lord desires our life to be a lamp or torch pointing and directing others to Christ, and this happens as long as we do not place ourselves in opposition to the Lord.
The Lord desires our life to be a light and not an allegory or metaphor of what not to do, as an example for others of why we shouldn’t place our lives in opposition to the Lord.
