Today’s Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 33-34

Today’s Devotional: 2 Chronicles 33:1-9

The downward turn of the Southern nation of Judah was spearheaded by Manasseh’s selfish distraction of the focus of the entire nation away from the Lord and onto himself; then his blatant opposition to anything of the Lord and His prescribed means of worship.

And yet we see that though Manasseh desired to throw God out completely, in reaping what we sow even to our modern day we see that God never desires to just throw us out, but instead, we learn just Manasseh did, that God desires to take us then through a season of experiencing and growing in the knowledge and understanding of who the Lord is and that He is serious about His Name, His Work, and it being portrayed and communicated as He prescribes and properly to others.

At times, if we decide to go down this path of distracting others from their focus being on the Lord then in blatant opposition and directing others to a different rout for salvation and spiritual growth that that is other than by His prescribed means of His grace and grace alone. We then may find that whatever the Lord was doing or desired to do becomes obsolete and no longer His Spirit present in and amongst it. The only outcome when we remove the grace of the Lord from how we begin or how we are sanctified, we or anything else can only then be sustained by the life support of man’s work and copying how the world sees growth and change.

In all of this we need to remember that the Lord always gives opportunity for repentance and restoration.
