Today’s Bible Reading: Deuteronomy 32-34

Today’s Devotional: Deuteronomy 32:1-14
Moses spoke as a witness against a rebellious people. The song was concerning the name of the Lord, and the song sets to the foreground and at the center of everything is the greatness, perfection, justice, and faithfulness of the Lord.
Deuteronomy 32:5 then tells us that the children of Israel acted unworthy of the Love and favor God had shown towards them.
Deuteronomy 32:6-14 the song then, God’s appeal, and calling upon the whole congregation to remember for one purpose we later see, in Deuteronomy 32:47, that it’s for life and not death which the Lord has written the Law for them to follow so that they would prolong the days in the land which He had given them as an inheritance and to walk before the Lord with Him as their God. Deu 32:6-14 then describes and is a wonderful revelation of the fact that love is the inspiration of the Law.
In the chapter before in Deuteronomy 31:19-21 we see the God loved the children of Israel when He knew they would fall short of who He is and His desire for them. Therefore He gave the law out of Love so that they would know the correct ways to walk in so that the Lord could fellowship with His children who He loves in the place of His rest.
For the life of the Believer we see the same heart for why Christ came, but Christ went further than the Law ever could that He came not to condemn the world but to save the world. Christ fulfilled the law by becoming our perfect sacrifice for us in His death, and by His life, His example for us became a distinction or boundary marker for what the value system and life of a Christian should be and what the value system and life of the world looks like, because Christ lived we not only have been redeemed by His Blood, but we have something to evaluate our lives by as well. God’s desire for the Christian is that we grow in the knowledge and understanding of His Word and choose apply His value system to our lives so that we may prolong the days in a Spirit filled and not be tossed around by every wave of confusion which happens in the world or which creeps into the Church, but it’s holding to His Word and not new trends.
